Consultant teachers are responsible for all Individualized Education Program (IEP) mandates or 504 plans for each of their assigned students. These services are provided concurrently with general education content area instruction. To fulfill their responsibilities, consultant teachers must possess certain skills. Transition services involve technical or specialized knowledge required to complete a project or provide temporary consulting services to the City. Each student with a disability who requires a resource room program will receive no less than three hours of instruction per week in such program, except that the special education committee may recommend that for a student with a disability who also needs consulting teacher services in addition to the resource room, they may receive a combination of such services according to their IEP for no less than three hours per week.
